If you have clicked this far, you may be on the I love Pinotage side of the fence. It's a polarising varietal indeed, but this is a wicked example. A vibrant purple colour and packed with lively blackberry, black plum and sweet black cherry fruit aromas. There’s spice and smoke as you would expect on the finish with well integrated tannins to chew on.
Once infamously described by one winemaker in the Cape as ‘The bastard son of Pinot Noir’, let’s face it, Pinotage rarely gets a good press – even within a nation that somewhat naively considers it South Africa’s ‘signature’ variety.
One can imagine the brief given to Abraham Izak Perold who perfected the crossing of Pinot Noir and Cinsault in 1924: ‘Professor, we want you to create a uniquely South African grape variety that has all the nobility of Pinot Noir but the high-yielding potential of Cinsault’. Pinotage is what they got. Abraham and the Heretics is something of a tongue-in-cheek challenge to those non-believers to accept the variety into their vinous lives.

Orders must be placed before 12pm for next day delivery (Monday - Thursday). Orders placed before 12pm on Friday will be delivered on Monday. Orders placed after 12pm on Friday and before 12pm on Monday will be delivered on Tuesday.
To order wine for national delivery, we have a minimum order requirement of £20.

You will receive an automated confirmation on ordering. It is unavoidable that wines will sometimes be out of stock, so we will always contact you to advise a delivery estimate in this case. If you need the wine for a particular date, or before a particular date please make sure you specify this.
Deliveries are normally made weekdays before 4pm. Unsuccessful deliveries will be attempted the next working day if nobody is available to accept the delivery, unless you specify a place to leave the shipment in this case.
If a request is made for wine to be left unattended, Vino Gusto will not be held responsible if the wine goes missing after the courier has delivered it. If a delivery has not arrived in the timeframe, please let us know. Although the courier should tell us if there are any breakages, please let us know of any damage within 24 hours of receipt, so we can investigate. Please also be sure to check the number of cases for which you are signing; we cannot replace wine that has been signed for but not received.
We do not deliver wine internationally. Please note that we, regretfully, are currently unable to ship to Northern Ireland.
