Bas de Chapelot, Chablis, Domaine Eleni et Edouard Vocoret, Burgundy, France, 2018Regular price £29.50
If you're looking for cool, new generation Chablis (not the overrated, out-out-fashion, unexciting stone juice poured as the overpriced premium by-the-glass option in your grandmother's favourite lunch restaurant), then look no further than E&E Vocoret.
If you know that Bas de Chapelot sits just beneath famous Chablis Premier Cru site, 'Montée de Tonnerre', then you know that this wine is a relative bargain. E&E are one of the few 'modern classic' producers choosing to use old barrels and produce Chablis is the softer, fuller style. The domain are all about balance and finesse and this wine has minerality typical of Chablis with a sense of weight and complexity only found in the region's best wines.
Complex and powerful with lovely aromas of stone fruit, ripe pear and hints of citrus. Smokey and mineral with a finish that never ends.
