Textural, organic and natural. Xarel-lo from one of the highest estates in Penedes. Made by Pepe Raventós - the most recent generation of the family who invented Cava - a man who knows a thing or two about this grape variety. Convinced that the variety has a purpose beyond a blending component of Cava, Can Sumoi is his high-altitude project in the Serra de l’Home mountain range, proving just that. He makes outstanding wine with very minimal intervention in the winery and biodynamic farming in the vineyards.
His Xarel-lo has beautiful, delicate aromas of green apple and pear, with light savoury notes. The palate also has some leesy, textural character, with brisk acidity. The flagship wine of the domaine, nutty and herbal. As featured in Noble Rot's 'How to Build a Cellar for Less than £500'...
