Domaine Guffens-Heynen, 'Tri de Chavigne', Mâcon-Pierreclos, Burgundy, France, 2014Regular price £55.00
Domaine Guffens-Heynen was formed by husband and wife team Jean-Marie Guffens and Maine Heynen, who left their home Flanders in 1976 at a young age to pursue a career in winemaking in Burgundy, despite having no previous knowledge. After a few years picking up the knack, the duo bought some plots on the hills of Pierreclos, and what follows today is a creative and passionate winemaking business led by two rather eccentric personalities.
This wine has an intense nose of dairy and woody notes with a whiff of tropical fruits like ripe peach and melon. The palate is rich and textured but balanced by a firm acid spine.
This is a serious and impressive wine which, similarly to the rest of the vintage's best white Burgundies, will be great for drinking now and in years to come.
