What a beautiful little bargain this is. We took up an offer given by the winemaker by placing a chunky order, so there is plenty to go around!
This textural, ripe, juicy banger is made up of Macabeu (60%), Grenache Blanc (20%) and Grenache Gris (20%). Fruit forward and racy - just delicious as an aperitif or to accompany a summer barbecue. A real beaut with charred white meat and mixed Mediterranean veg.
From 40 year old bush vines grown on schist. The grapes are whole bunch pressed then cold settled in tank. The wine is racked from its lees and then fermented before being racked again prior to settling and blending.
Winemaker and owner of Res Fortes, Moritz Bak, found his love of wine at a young age, visiting his Grandfather (a keen consumer, we are told) in the south of France. Having then travelled extensively and worked as a winemaker at some pretty famous addresses, Moritz settled on Roussillon to begin his own winemaking venture in 2014 making modern, elegant wines from the toughest terrain.
