Côte de Nuits quality, without the price tag. This Givry gives Meursault at twice the price a real run for it's money. Rich and seductive with apple and peach fruit aromas backed up with a subtle nuttiness. The palate is weighty with mineral depth and a fine spiciness. Very classy white Burgundy to be admired alongside much more expensive company.
Domaine Michel Sarrazin is situated in the quiet hamlet of Charnailles in the hills above Givry, 30km south of Beaune. The Sarrazin family have been making wine here for many generations and today Guy Sarrazin is in charge, supported by his brother Jean-Yves and sons Pierre and Jean-Baptiste. There are over thirty hectares, mainly situated in Givry but also across Rully, Mercurey and Maranges. The Givry Blanc ‘Sans Nom’ comes from a blend of two vineyards, Varot and Chaponnières.
