Champagne Delavenne Père & Fils

Champagne Delavenne Père & Fils is based in Bouzy, a Grand Cru village on the southern slopes of the Montagne de Reims, midway between Reims and Épernay. Founded in 1920, the estate now comprises nine hectares across three Grand Cru villages: Bouzy and neighbouring Ambonnay, together with Cramant in the Côte des Blancs.

Delavenne is a Récoltant-Manipulant, meaning the family farms its own vineyards and oversees every stage of production at the estate. Today, fourth-generation Jean-Christophe Delavenne runs the domaine with his wife Maëlle, continuing the work he learned from his father and grandfather.

The vineyards have long been farmed with a sensitive, low-intervention approach. Herbicides have been abandoned and the entire estate is moving towards organic certification, complemented by some rather unconventional experiments with mineral-based treatments. It is a thoughtful, independent operation, combining traditional Champagne craftsmanship with a restless desire to understand and protect its land.
