"A half bottle of Equipo Navazos' 'I Think' Manzanilla Sherry. With change to spend on some Perelló olives".

"I think I’d have said New historically but if I have to pick then I’ll go Old".

"Discovering Querciabella’s Batàr just outside Siena many years ago when we drove across Italy on honeymoon".

"It’s ever changing but right now I’d pick the Bruno Murciano ‘Pieles Doradas’ made from Malvasia".

"My lightbulb moment with wine was sharing a bottle of Recioto Della Valpolicella with a good friend when I was 18, with a chunk of Parmesan on the side….. perfection".

"I’m such a sucker for the classics. Always Old World".

"Standing on a mountain in Spain, glass in hand, drinking wine made from the vineyard beneath my feet. Ridiculously epic".

"Fournillon Bourgogne Blanc. Ridiculously good value for money. Made just outside of Chablis, gives you wicked value but proper quality juice. Steely, lemony and gluggable".

"Standing in a wine shop in Saint-Émilion being given a glass of the 2015 vintage from a tiny producer. Plus the cheery shop owner telling me my French “wasn’t that bad”. High praise indeed".

"Georgiev/Milkov “Why Not?”: Red Misket. Huh? Bulgaria?! I beg your pardon? And yet it’s better than any Savvy B I’ve come across".
