The 2001-vintage Quinta do Panascal Port from Fonseca was made with grapes harvested after an unusually wet winter and long, moderately hot summer. Aromas of cherries, plums, soft spices and aromatic herbs fill the nose, complemented by notes of jammy fruit, liquorice root, black tea, dried figs, espresso and blackberry throughout the palate.
