Domaine Amélie Guillot Vin Jaune 2017

This is as typical as Vin Jaune gets, the classic oxidative style of Jura wine. Made from old vine Savagnin, fermented in barrels, aging under a veil of indigenous yeast for 6 years. This is wild, nutty and extremely powerful, with flavours of raisins, curry leaf, walnuts, butter and brioche. If you're not enjoying it with some judiciously aged comté from the same region, you're doing it wrong. 

Amélie Guillot relocated from her native Burgundy to the Jura in 1995 after completing an oenology diploma, where she purchased 2ha of 40-year-old vines surrounded by wooded hillsides and apple trees. Her following is loyal amongst the regions vignerons, though remains under-the-radar from afar, going someway to keep her prices at the affordable end of the relative scale. She is frequently commended for producing very typical, classic styles of the region in their truest form. This is no different.
