‘Vigna Casi’ is Gran Selezione dialled up another level. Sourced from a single vineyard, this is precise, powerful and beautifully detailed. Dark cherry and blackberry are layered with dried rose, crushed herbs and a savoury hint of graphite. There’s real depth here, with firm, sculpted tannins and a spine of fresh acidity that keeps everything tight and focused. The oak is refined and seamless, adding gentle spice and length rather than weight. It’s serious, but not showy.

This is a wine for slow evenings and proper food. Think venison, truffle laced pasta or a rich beef ragù that’s been ticking away all afternoon. It’ll also reward patience in a decanter or even a few more years in the cellar.

Castello di Meleto sits high in Gaiole in Chianti, where altitude and galestro-rich soils bring tension and structure to Sangiovese.
