Attis 'Nana' Albariño 2019

This is Albariño on steroids, and we're nuts about it. Attis are a family run, modern winery with ambitions of exploring spontaneous fermentation, lees ageing and reduced use of sulphur. All of these techniques combine to produce wines of textural and aromatic richness, which carefully balanced with the natural freshness of Albariño grown on the granitic soils of Rias Baixas, make for delicious drinking.

'Nana' is a bit of a departure from the classic, zippy style of Albariño that so many love. The fruit for this wine comes from a single plot of organically farmed 40yr old vines. A wild fermentation happens in french oak and the wine is kept on it's lees in the same barrel for 12 months, with occasional stirring. 

This results in a wine with a massive personality - Intense and deeply complex nose, loaded with apricots, pears with touches of toasted spice. Brilliant acidity brings freshness which carries a super long finish. Delicious now, but absolutely capable of ageing gracefully until around 2030.
