Outside of Burgundy, Pinot Noir is truly at home in Germany, and this wine is the proof. Classically styled Spatburgunder (Pinot Noir) with pure, crunchy red fruit. The little spice and a savoury, earthy quality is typical of German Pinot, and the palate is soft and juicy. Ultra delicious, uber drinkable. A firm favourite amongst staff at casa VG.
The family-owned Hanewald-Schwerdt was founded in Leistadt, Pfalz, in 1955. Today the property is managed by cousins, Thomas Hanewald and Stephan Schwerdt. Thomas and Stephan are members of ‘Generation Riesling’ a body made up of the best young winemaking talent in Germany. Their focus is on dry wines, primarily made from Riesling and Pinot Noir that express their vintage and vineyard - masters of fruit purity and drinkability.
