At a more than a decade old, this is standing up very well indeed. Still bright mulberry and black cherry lead the attack, followed with some sure signs of gentle maturation; sous bois, tobacco and a touch of wet cedar. The palate has structure but is silky soft and velvety. Brilliant with roast duck, this is classic Chinon, from a great vintage, ready for drinking.

Le Logis de la Bouchardière dates from 1850. The current incumbent is Bruno Sourdais who represents the 6th generation on the property. Bruno joined his late father, Serge, in 1990, taking full control from the 2008 vintage. Le Clos is a six-hectare parcel of 40 to 50 year old vines on the well-drained flinty soils on a slope directly above the cellar.
