Join us for an effervescent evening of English elegance as we welcome Richard James, one of the legends of Rathfinny Estate, to Vino Gusto for a deep dive into all things Sussex Sparkling. He'll be joined by our very own Shop Manager, Evelyn, for a fizz-fuelled tasting that's as educational as it is delicious.
Rathfinny has been quietly (okay, not that quietly) building a reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting producers of traditional method sparkling wine and this is your chance to explore why. From the vineyard to the glass, we’ll explore their house style, their approach to sustainability, and that all-important word: dosage.
Yes, dosage. That tiny tweak that makes a big difference. We'll be putting our palates to the test with a unique dosage experiment – ever wondered how just a gram or two of sugar can shift the character of a wine? You’ll find out.
Expect a tasting of several cuvées, a guided tour through the Rathfinny range, and plenty of sparkling insights from Richard – who’ll keep things both informative and delightfully unpretentious.
Whether you’re an English fizz fanatic or simply curious about what all the Sussex sparkle is about, this promises to be an evening full of bubbles, banter, and a bit of brilliant British winemaking.
Spaces are limited, so get booked quick!

- Please arrive at 18:50 for a 19:00 start. The tastings usually last for around two hours.
- No physical ticket required, just bring a copy of your order confirmation (on a phone is fine).
- Please confirm when booking if you have any allergies or dietary requirements. Please note that our cheese & wine tastings cannot be tailored to accommodate strict vegetarian diets due to the nature of our presentation.
- Strictly no under 18's.
- Tickets are non-refundable.
- We adore our wonky old building. All we regret is that the staircase to our first floor bathroom and tasting room isn't overly forgiving and as such rules us out from being accessible. So sorry for the inconvenience it may cause.
- Please note that we kindly ask attendees not to wear strong aftershave or perfume for the event. This sounds like a silly request, but we try and keep our tasting room as a controlled environment so that only the wine fumes invade our nostrils.
