Fancy drinking your way through some of South Africa's most exciting wines while chatting to the people behind them? Sounds like a pretty good way to spend an evening.
Join us on the shop floor as we welcome François Haasbroek, founder and winemaker behind Blackwater Wines, alongside David Green of Humble Grape, the people bringing these wines into the UK, for a relaxed Meet the Makers evening packed with great wines, stories and conversation.
François has built Blackwater around finding exceptional vineyard sites and making wines with personality. These are wines with freshness, energy and plenty of character. Wines that make you stop after the first sip and think hang on... that's good.
Alongside François, David will share why Humble Grape were so excited to bring these wines to the UK and what makes Blackwater stand out in the increasingly exciting world of South African wine.
You'll taste a range of wines, ask questions, discover the stories behind the labels and explore a side of South Africa that goes far beyond what you might expect. We'll also have our usual legendary charcuterie boards for sharing too.
Whether you're already a South African wine fan or just fancy discovering something new, come and join us for an evening of good wine, good conversation and a chance to meet the people behind the bottle.

- Tickets cancelled up to 72 hours before the event are refundable to Vino Gusto store credit only. The credit sits on your customer account to be used against a future event or any products at Vino Gusto. Store credit can be used in store or online.
- Tickets cancelled within 72 hours of the event are non-refundable.
- Please arrive at 18:50 for a 19:00 start. The tastings usually last for around two hours.
- No physical ticket required, just bring a copy of your order confirmation (on a phone is fine).
- Please confirm when booking if you have any allergies or dietary requirements. Please note that our cheese & wine tastings cannot be tailored to accommodate strict vegetarian diets due to the nature of our presentation.
- Strictly no under 18's.
- We adore our wonky old building. All we regret is that the staircase to our first floor WC and tasting room is not forgiving and as such rules us out from being accessible. Sorry for the inconvenience it may cause.
- Please note that we kindly ask attendees not to wear strong aftershave or perfume for the event. This sounds like a silly request, but we try and keep our tasting room as a controlled environment so that only the wine fumes invade our nostrils.
