Allegrini, Valpolicella, Veneto, Italy, 2019Regular price £15.00
is Italy's answer to Beaujolais - a proper lunch time red. Bright ruby red with lovely pure red fruit flavours with a touch of herby character. Juicy, lively and easy to drink and we think best enjoyed slightly chilled.
Meet The Maker...
The biggest and best family winery in the Veneto. The Allegrini family estate covers 120 hectares of vineyard in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area. The family has been growing grapes here for six generations, but the estate in its current form was founded by Giovanni Allegrini. When he passed away in 1983, it passed to his three children, who ran it together until Walter's death in July 2003. Franco now looks after the vineyards and is the winemaker, and Marilisa is director of marketing.

Vino Gusto Recommends:
"The Allegrini family are the biggest & best family owned producers in the Veneto region. Their Valpolicella is a modern benchmark standard for others to aspire to. Comparable to Beaujolais in its style, it is juicy, lively & easy to drink. Best enjoyed ever so slightly chilled to accentuate the juicy fruits even more.
The wine is bright ruby red & has pure red fruit aromas complemented by fresh herbs & peppers. The fruits are just as present on the palate, balanced with a vibrant acidity & smooth, soft tannins."
