Gran Selezione is where things get serious. This is layered, concentrated Sangiovese with real depth and composure. Dark cherry, blackberry and dried violet sit alongside savoury notes of leather, tobacco and a touch of balsamic lift. The oak is present but integrated, adding spice and structure rather than sweetness. Tannins are firm, fine and beautifully shaped, with a long, mineral finish that just keeps going. It’s powerful, but it’s poised.
This deserves something equally considered on the plate. Florentine steak is the obvious choice, but it’s equally at home with slow-braised short ribs, wild boar ragù or a big slab of aged Pecorino. Give it time in a decanter and let it stretch its legs.
