Honestly, I don't know how this wine isn't £20+. Grapes from very high altitude in the Pyrenees, aren't easy to farm, or turn into delicious rich, seductive red wine. Deep and brooding; lots of currants, caramel and liquorice spice going on here, but with a subtle freshness as a result of the cooler, high altitude nature of the wine. Wild strawberries and black cherries give this away on the palate, which has a nice soft, creamy feel and a pleasant lingering finish. Best enjoyed some fried potatoes, chorizo and aioli.
Enate is one of the big names when it comes to Spanish wine. The bodega is located in a traditional wine region, the Somontano. Somontano means at the foot of the mountains, well protected here at the foot of the Pyrenees. The name of the winery is borrowed from the small village of Enate, located in Somontano, near Barbastro. The wines are produced exclusively from their own vineyard and the vineyards are managed according to the principles of organic viticulture. The bodega team is young, highly motivated and well trained.
