Why You'll Love It
Malbec from Spain, and not at all shy about it. Big blackberry and blueberry fruit, a little violet and pepper, and firm but ripe tannins. The altitude gives it welcome freshness, making this a brilliant partner for grilled lamb or spiced beef.
About The Producer
Winemaker Rosalía Molina established Bodegas Altolandon in the high hills of Manchuela, where vineyards sit around 1,100 metres above sea level. Her certified-organic vineyards are farmed with biodiversity in mind, and the wines are made with native yeasts and minimal intervention. The combination of sunshine, cool nights and careful handling gives generous fruit without losing definition.
Winemaking Information
Hand-picked Malbec from organically farmed vines in high-altitude Manchuela. Fermentation begins spontaneously with indigenous yeasts after extended skin contact; malolactic fermentation takes place naturally. The wine then ages for around four months, half in used French oak and half in clay amphorae, retaining dark fruit and a fresh, savoury line.
