Why You'll Love It
So bright and juicy, this is sunshine in a bottle. Light in body but lacking nothing in flavour, this Frappato is full of energy, with crunchy red cherry, wild strawberry and a wild, herbal lift. Soft tannins and fresh acidity make it dangerously drinkable, especially when slightly chilled for 30 minutes in the fridge. Quite gluggable as an aperitif, or an ideal accompaniment to pizza or charcuterie.
About The Producer
Cortese produce wine in the most traditional and natural way to reflect the true character of the estate’s terroir and its grape varieties. Taking tradition as their inspiration, they employ ancient wine-making techniques such as fermentation in terracotta. The resulting wines reflect the combination of modern technology and traditional techniques, with every nuance of the terroir showing through.
Winemaking Information
The grapes are harvested by hand before being chilled overnight to around 6–8°C, preserving Frappato's wonderfully delicate aromatics. After a gentle destemming, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at cool temperatures over 10–12 days. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally, before the wine spends around four to six months resting on its fine lees with regular stirring. This careful, low-intervention approach builds texture while allowing the grape's vibrant fruit and freshness to remain the star of the show.
