About The Producer
Funkstille works with a sixteenth-generation winegrowing family in Niederösterreich to make characterful, modern Austrian wines. Their sustainably certified Weinviertel vineyards grow on loess, clay and granite, with cover crops and straw mulch supporting soil health and water retention. In the cellar, solar and biogas power support a thoughtful, energy-neutral approach to winemaking.
Winemaking Information
Skin-contact blend of Riesling (45%), Grüner Veltliner (35%), Gewürztraminer (19%) and Muscat (1%). After maceration, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel with selected yeasts. The wine has eight weeks of lees contact; technical details also specify six months in used French oak for half the blend. No malolactic fermentation.
