About The Producer
Simon Hackett grew up in the Barossa Valley and established his own small winery overlooking McLaren Vale in 1984. His wines have long been admired for bold, generous fruit and an approachable Australian character. Alongside small-production, more ambitious McLaren Vale bottlings, the Big Rivers range draws on carefully selected parcels across southeastern Australia to make vibrant, easy-going wines. Grenache is particularly well suited to the region's sunshine, producing generous cherry and plum fruit while retaining freshness and soft tannins. The 2020 Big Rivers is a good example of the range's immediate appeal, bringing together straightforward winemaking and real personality in the glass.
Winemaking Information
100% Grenache from selected parcels in the Big Rivers region of southeastern Australia. The warm climate encourages ripe red fruit, while carefully controlled yields and harvest timing help retain softness and balance. The 2020 wine is listed at 12.5% ABV, with 0.85 g/L residual sugar and a supple, fruit-led profile. A verified bottle-specific oak regimen has not been established, so no precise barrel claim is made.
