Tenuta Larame 'Terre del Conte' Roero Arneis 2025

Fruity & Floral Dry White Arneis Piedmont , Italy
Piedmont's "little rascal". Peach, pear and a gentle almond finish. Under the radar and stupidly delicious.

Why You'll Love It
There's a softness to this wine. Charming and gentle with flavours of peach, almonds and something faintly floral. On the palate it's fresh but not sharp, with a slight bitterness on the finish that keeps you coming back for another sip. My wife and I made a bottle disappear a little too quickly. Match it with anything delicate: grilled fish, a simple pasta with butter and sage, or just some very good bread from Woosters Bakery and cheese from our neighbours at The Cheese Hole.

The grape variety - Arneis - almost went extinct. Once known as ‘Barolo Bianco’, it used to be planted among the Nebbiolo vines to soften the harsh, high tannin reds of the region. But the white grape of the Roero - the gentle, sandy hills that sit across the Tanaro river from the more celebrated Langhe – was all but abandoned by the mid-twentieth century. Also known as the ‘Little Rascal’, it is difficult to grow, prone to oxidation and economically thankless. A handful of stubborn producers brought it back in the 1970s, and the world is better for it.
About The Producer
Tenuta Laramè is the Povero family’s slice of Piedmont. The philosophy here is simple: respect tradition, farm sustainably, and leave the land in better shape for the next generation. Every part of the process, from vineyard to bottle, stays close to the family, giving the wines a real sense of place and personality.
Winemaking Information
The fruit comes exclusively from the organically farmed Terre del Conte vineyard in the sandy hills of Roero, where Arneis has been grown for centuries. The grapes are hand-harvested before a short cold maceration enhances the wine's aromatic intensity. Gentle pressing is followed by cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine spends around two to three months on its fine lees. With no oak influence, the result is a wonderfully pure expression of Arneis, combining freshness, texture and the variety's hallmark almond finish.
