Why You'll Love It
A more approachable side of Madiran, with Tannat's deep fruit and savoury grip softened by Cabernet Franc's floral lift. Juicy blackcurrant, a little smoke and polished tannins make this a very satisfying choice for lamb, beef or mushroom dishes.
About The Producer
Château Peyros occupies a stony hillside at the southern edge of Madiran, looking towards the Pyrenees. Its name comes from the Gascon word for a rocky place, an apt description of the estate's pebble-strewn soils. Owned by the Lesgourgues family since 1999, the château combines traditional south-west French grape varieties with careful vineyard management, making Tannat-led wines with structure, freshness and an increasingly approachable style.
Winemaking Information
Héritage 2021 is a blend of 60% Tannat and 40% Cabernet Franc grown on the gravelly, clay-silt soils of Madiran. Fermentation and approximately 20 days of skin maceration take place in stainless steel, followed by 12 months of maturation in oak barrels, around 20% new. The 2021 listing gives 13.5% ABV.
