About The Producer
Mélanie Pfister is the eighth generation of her family to farm vines in Dahlenheim, at the cooler northern end of Alsace. After gaining experience at estates including Zind-Humbrecht, Méo-Camuzet and Château Cheval Blanc, she returned to take charge in 2006. Her careful, parcel-by-parcel approach and commitment to organic farming have sharpened the domaine's reputation for precise, dry wines that express the limestone soils around Strasbourg. The estate has been certified organic since 2021.
Winemaking Information
Berg Riesling comes from hillside parcels around Auf dem Berg and Silberberg on clay over hard limestone, adjacent to the Engelberg Grand Cru. The hand-picked fruit is fermented to complete dryness, generally with indigenous yeasts, and spends at least a year on fine lees in stainless steel. Organic vineyard practices have been certified since 2021.
