Soft, mineral and fresh, Silex has layers of lemon curd, almond and white peach, all lifted by a distinctive flinty note. The palate is bright and waxy, layered with citrus and orchard fruit and a mouth-watering acidity. Both refreshing and complex.

It has the precision of a top Loire white with a character that's unmistakably English, making it equally enjoyable as an aperitif or paired with fresh seafood, goat's cheese or simple grilled fish.
About The Producer
Founded by Ben Witchell in 2015, Flint Vineyard has become one of England's most exciting producers of still wine. Ben's journey took him from an IT career to studying winemaking at Plumpton College before gaining experience in Beaujolais, where he developed a passion for producing expressive, food-friendly wines. Today, Flint combines fruit from its Norfolk home with carefully selected vineyards across the country's best cool-climate sites, producing wines that consistently challenge perceptions of what English wine can be. Silex has become the winery's signature still white, evolving every vintage as a living blueprint for English winemaking.
Winemaking Information
The fruit was whole-bunch pressed, with only the finest juice selected for fermentation. Slow, cool fermentations took place in concrete egg, neutral oak, and seasoned barrels, each vessel contributing distinct character: purity and tension from concrete, subtle breadth from oak. Full malolactic fermentation softened acidity and enhanced texture, while 12 months on gross lees built depth and savoury character.

The final blend includes 25% Chardonnay that was fermented and matured in a concrete egg, and the addition of three barrels of Chardonnay from the 2023 harvest, both contributing to an enhanced complexity and smoother mouthfeel.
