About The Producer
Franco Mondo is a family estate in San Marzano Oliveto, among the rolling hills of Piedmont's Monferrato. Founded by Ernesto Mondo in 1945, it has passed through the generations to Franco and his son Valerio. Around eleven hectares of estate vineyards supply a range led by Barbera, alongside other local and international varieties. From bright everyday reds to serious single-vineyard Barbera, the family combines careful vineyard work with a clear understanding of its home territory.
Winemaking Information
Monferrato Rosso made from 70% Barbera and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon grown in estate vineyards near San Marzano Oliveto. The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo traditional red fermentation with skin contact. The 2021 wine is matured for approximately six months in a combination of stainless steel and oak before further bottle ageing. Wine-specific information indicates a full, slightly off-dry impression.
