About The Producer
Hattingley Valley is one of England’s sparkling wine success stories. A Hampshire estate that has risen from a farm diversification project to one of the country’s most decorated producers in just over a decade. Founded in 2008, the winery combines state-of-the-art facilities with an innovative spirit, producing wines that are both technically precise and distinctly English in character.
Winemaking Information
The English Gent is a wonderfully unconventional take on English sparkling wine. Hand-harvested Bacchus and Pinot Gris are whole-bunch pressed before cool fermentation in stainless steel to preserve their vibrant aromatics. The wine spends three months on its fine lees before undergoing a second fermentation in bottle using the Traditional Method. A further 30 months ageing on its lees creates fine, persistent bubbles and adds subtle pastry notes while allowing the wine's floral, fruit-driven personality to remain front and centre.
