About The Producer
Kaiken was founded in Mendoza in 2002 by Chilean winemaker Aurelio Montes, who saw the potential of Argentina's vineyards after crossing the Andes. Named after the wild geese that travel between Chile and Argentina, the estate combines an ambitious approach to site selection with a practical understanding of high-altitude viticulture. Its vineyards range from classic Mendoza locations to Gualtallary in the Uco Valley, where limestone soils and cool nights offer exceptional freshness. Beyond its distinctive still wines, Kaiken has developed a characterful traditional-method sparkling range, bringing precision and drinkability together.
Winemaking Information
Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are hand-picked from Gualtallary in the Uco Valley, around 1,400 metres above sea level. Whole-bunch pressing is followed by a 48-hour cold settling period and low-temperature fermentation to make the base wine. Secondary fermentation takes place in bottle, followed by approximately two years on lees before disgorgement. The published NV specification gives 12.5% ABV and 9 g/L residual sugar.
