Why You'll Love It
Washington's Yakima Valley has a knack for giving Rhône varieties both generosity and freshness. This Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre blend has dark fruit, spice and a well-shaped finish that makes it a very versatile red for hearty dinners.
About The Producer
Kevin White founded his small eponymous winery in Washington State in 2010, inspired by the Rhône varieties he believed could thrive in the Yakima Valley. Working with excellent growers at sites including Boushey, Upland and Olsen, he concentrates on Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre rather than the Cabernet-led styles often associated with the region. Cooler, elevated vineyards and long growing seasons help him make wines with fragrant fruit, fine tannins and a distinct savoury edge. His limited-production Blue Label blend is a particularly good introduction to the approach: generously flavoured but carefully structured, with real regional character and enough freshness for food.
Winemaking Information
The 2021 Blue Label is a Rhône-inspired blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre from selected vineyards in the Yakima Valley, Washington State. The wine is matured for approximately 12 months in oak barrels, giving subtle vanilla and chocolate notes beneath the dark fruit. The producer's distributor lists 15% ABV and confirms vegan and vegetarian suitability. Precise blend percentages are not stated in the available 2021 specification.
