Why You'll Love It
Everything that makes Morgon so compelling: juicy dark cherry and wild plum, a floral lift and a savoury, gently grippy finish. There's genuine depth here, but the fruit remains wonderfully energetic. Lovely with roast pork, duck or a lentil and mushroom stew.
About The Producer
Thibault Ducroux grew up among the vineyards of Beaujolais and learnt the craft in his father's cellar. Inspired by the writings of Jules Chauvet, and experience with growers including Julien Sunier, he established his own low-intervention approach in Villié-Morgon. Working with his brother Dimitri, he farms Gamay in Beaujolais, Morgon and Fleurie to organic standards, relying on hand harvesting, native yeasts and minimal additions. The results are precise, characterful wines with real energy and a sense of place.
Winemaking Information
100% Gamay sourced from Morgon vineyards including Les Charmes and Corcelette, on granite and schist soils. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented as whole bunches with carbonic maceration and native yeasts. Ageing takes place in concrete for approximately eight months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, with minimal added sulphur.
