Why You'll Love It
Old-vine Morgon that goes beyond simple gluggability. Concentrated black cherry, raspberry and crushed flowers sit over fine, chalky tannins and a long mineral finish. Richer and more structured than the regular Morgon, with plenty to reward a proper meal or a little time in the cellar.
About The Producer
Thibault Ducroux grew up among the vineyards of Beaujolais and learnt the craft in his father's cellar. Inspired by the writings of Jules Chauvet, and experience with growers including Julien Sunier, he established his own low-intervention approach in Villié-Morgon. Working with his brother Dimitri, he farms Gamay in Beaujolais, Morgon and Fleurie to organic standards, relying on hand harvesting, native yeasts and minimal additions. The results are precise, characterful wines with real energy and a sense of place.
Winemaking Information
100% Gamay from old bush vines in the Corcelette lieu-dit of Morgon, on granitic and schistous soils. Hand-picked whole bunches undergo carbonic maceration with indigenous yeasts. Unlike the estate's regular Morgon, this wine ages for approximately eight months in older 225-litre oak barrels. Bottled without fining or filtration and with very light sulphur additions.
