Why You'll Love It
Balanced, structured and polished, with fruit and oak working together rather than competing. Refined tannins and a lingering finish make this coastal Chilean Pinot Noir a particularly good choice for roast poultry or mushroom dishes. Sustainably managed vineyards and careful, low-intervention winemaking add to its appeal.
About The Producer
Viñedos Lo Abarca is Felipe Marín’s project within the Casa Marín family estate in coastal Lo Abarca, in Chile’s San Antonio Valley. Its vineyards are shaped by cool Pacific breezes and limestone-rich soils with marine deposits, producing wines with freshness and definition.
Winemaking Information
Pinot Noir from the Tierras Blancas vineyard, planted in 2011, with low yields of 25 hl/ha. American clones 9 and 16 were hand-harvested in the second week of March and pre-selected. The grapes were destemmed and given pre-fermentation maceration, then fermented spontaneously at low temperature in stainless steel, with daily pump-overs and occasional treading. Racked by gravity to used French oak barrels for 14 months. Sustainable vineyard management; low-intervention winemaking without acid adjustment or chaptalisation. Residual sugar: 1.59 g/l; pH: 3.5; acidity: 3.2 g/l.
