Why You'll Love It
Ripasso is often described as "baby Amarone", but that doesn't really do it justice.
It has all the generosity that makes Amarone so appealing, yet with a freshness that makes it far easier to enjoy, without the ritual of decanting and waiting. Expect juicy Morello cherry, ripe blackberry and plum, layered with sweet baking spice, violets, black tea and a hint of dark chocolate. The tannins are velvety and the finish is long.
Wonderful with slow-cooked lamb, mushroom risotto, aged Parmesan or a hearty pasta ragù.

About The Producer
Cà dei Maghi is a small family estate tucked into the hills of Fumane in the heart of Valpolicella Classico. Although the winery dates back to the 1950s, it has flourished under the guidance of Paolo Creazzi, whose meticulous attention to detail has earned the estate a reputation as one of the region's rising stars. Production remains deliberately small, with every wine crafted to express the elegance of traditional Valpolicella rather than sheer power. From their vibrant Classico to their outstanding Amarone, the wines consistently punch well above their weight.
Winemaking Information
This Ripasso begins life as a classic Valpolicella before undergoing the traditional ripasso process. The young wine is passed over the freshly pressed skins from the estate's Amarone, triggering a second fermentation that adds colour, body and remarkable complexity. The wine is then matured in large oak casks before further bottle ageing, allowing the vibrant fruit and savoury spice to knit together into a beautifully balanced wine that sits perfectly between Valpolicella and Amarone
