Why You'll Love It
To find value in Burgundy, you have to look south of the Côte d'Or. Not far, mind you, to Rully in the Chalonnaise, where you find - as we have here - some very impressive and undervalued Chardonnay.
Silky and glossy, this Chardonnay feels generous without ever losing its freshness. Ripe pear, white peach and citrus are layered with toasted hazelnut, warm brioche and a touch of butter, all underpinned by chalky minerality and spice. It's a wonderful match for roast chicken, scallops and shellfish.
La Crée won the White Wine Trophy at the Wine Merchant Top 100 competition 2025. The competition is judged by independent merchant judges who assess wines - tasted blind - based on value and quality.

About The Producer
Founded in Rully at the beginning of the 20th century, Domaine Belleville has become one of the leading estates of the Côte Chalonnaise. Today the domaine farms around 28 hectares across some of Burgundy's finest villages, producing wines that combine traditional craftsmanship with a thoughtful, sustainable approach to viticulture. Every wine is made with a clear focus on expressing its individual vineyard, proving that the Côte Chalonnaise can deliver Burgundies with all the elegance and finesse of its more famous neighbours—often at a fraction of the price.
Winemaking Information
'La Crée' takes its name from an old stone quarry and is planted on a remarkably stony clay-limestone slope just below the Premier Cru vineyard La Pucelle. The fruit is harvested by hand from five individual parcels, each picked separately to capture optimum ripeness. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels before the wine spends 12 months ageing in oak, with around 25% new barrels, building texture and complexity while preserving the vineyard's hallmark freshness and mineral precision.
