Why You'll Love It
Tiara is all about elegance. Sourced from old vines high in the mountains, it has a freshness that's almost hard to believe comes from one of Europe's hottest wine regions. Think lemon peel, wild herbs (tarragon), crisp orchard fruit and a lovely stony minerality, all wrapped around a gently creamy texture from its time in old oak.
If you enjoy Chablis, dry Riesling or the more mineral styles of white Burgundy, this is a brilliant Portuguese alternative. Wonderful with grilled fish, sushi or roast chicken.

About The Producer
Niepoort is one of the defining names in modern Portuguese wine. Founded in 1842 in Vila Nova de Gaia as an independent Port house, it remains in the hands of the Niepoort family, now spanning six generations. Dirk Niepoort joined his father Rolf in 1987 and began challenging what people expected from the Douro. By acquiring Quinta de Nápoles and Quinta do Carril and championing dry wines alongside the family's outstanding Ports, he helped transform the reputation of Portugal's indigenous grapes and vineyards. Rather than chasing sheer weight or concentration, Niepoort's approach favours freshness, balance, character and a genuine expression of place. That curiosity has since taken the family into Dão, Bairrada, Vinho Verde and beyond, working with old vines, local varieties and like-minded growers. Today Dirk works alongside the next generation, including Daniel and Marco, who continue to push the estate forward without losing sight of its roots. For Vino Gusto, Niepoort is far more than a great Port house: it is one of the most influential and exciting producers in Portuguese wine.
Winemaking Information
Tiara 2023 comes from very old, high-altitude vines on granite soils at around 600 metres, including Rabigato, Códega do Larinho, Donzelinho, Cercial and other local white varieties. The wine ferments spontaneously and matures in large, old, neutral oak foudres of approximately 1,300 to 2,500 litres. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, it has exceptional purity, freshness and mineral detail.
