Virgen del Galir is part of the Val do Galir project in Galicia's Valdeorras region, one of Spain's most exciting areas for white wine. The estate specialises in showcasing the potential of Godello, a native variety that has become one of Spain's most sought-after grapes. Working with carefully selected hillside vineyards, many planted on slate soils, the team combines modern winemaking with a deep respect for local traditions. Their wines have helped establish Valdeorras as a serious rival to many of Europe's great white wine regions, producing bottles that combine texture, freshness and a strong sense of place.
Winemaking Information
Regueirón is sourced from old-vine Godello planted on steep slopes in Valdeorras, where slate-rich soils and a cool Atlantic influence help retain freshness and precision. The grapes are hand-harvested before gentle pressing and fermentation. A portion of the wine is aged on its fine lees, adding texture and complexity while preserving the variety's characteristic purity and mineral character. The result is a wine that balances richness and concentration with impressive freshness and energy.
