About The Producer
Founded in the 1920s, Mottura is one of Puglia's best-established family wineries. Based in Tuglie on the Salento peninsula, the estate has spent generations championing the region's indigenous grape varieties, particularly Primitivo. Combining traditional vineyard practices with modern winemaking, Mottura produces wines that capture the warmth, generosity and character of southern Italy while maintaining freshness and balance. The Stilio range is a wonderful showcase of why Primitivo di Manduria has become one of Italy's most loved red wines.
Winemaking Information
The fruit is sourced from low-yielding bush vines in the heart of Primitivo di Manduria, where Puglia's warm Mediterranean climate and iron-rich red soils produce beautifully concentrated grapes. Following hand harvesting, the wine undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation before ageing in a combination of French and American oak barrels. This adds subtle notes of sweet spice and vanilla while preserving the ripe fruit at the wine's core. Presented in a 1.5 litre Magnum, the wine also benefits from slower bottle ageing, allowing it to evolve more gracefully over time.
