Domaine Huet Vouvray 'Petillant Brut' 2019

Mandarin, honeysuckle, and a little baked apple are lifted by a whiff of fresh sea-air and thyme on the nose. The palate is fine, creamy and sophisticated with a very subtle mousse. 

I am in love with Loire Chenin, and Huet is the GOAT. This 'Loire Petillant' is a specialty of the region and almost a lost style. It's around half the pressure of most sparkling wines, perfectly preserving the versatile character of this mercurial grape variety. This is 100% Chenin from Huet’s three biodynamic vineyards on Vouvray’s Premiere Côte (La Haut-Lieu, Le Mont, and Clos du Bourg).

This wine competes in pedigree, texture and flavour with vintage Champagne, but is likely more suitable as a table wine, rather than as celebratory fizz.
