About The Producer
Breitenbach is a boutique Tokaj producer dedicated to showcasing the region's extraordinary old vineyards and indigenous grape varieties. While Tokaj is rightly celebrated for its legendary sweet wines, Breitenbach is part of a new generation proving that the region is equally capable of producing world-class dry whites. Working with mature vines rooted in volcanic soils, the winery follows a natural philosophy in both the vineyard and cellar, allowing Furmint to express its remarkable freshness, minerality and sense of place. The result is a range of elegant wines that reveal a different side of one of the world's most historic wine regions.
Winemaking Information
The fruit comes from remarkably old Furmint vines, some approaching 90 years of age, rooted in the volcanic soils of Hungary's historic Tokaj region. After a gentle pressing, the juice is fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel to preserve Furmint's naturally vibrant acidity and aromatic purity. No oak is used, allowing the variety's citrus fruit, chalky minerality and unmistakable volcanic character to take centre stage.
