Why You'll Love It
Powerful without excess, this is one of Dönnhoff's most distinctive dry Rieslings. Concentrated citrus and white stone fruit are framed by smoky, flinty minerality and a subtle savoury edge that reflects the vineyard's volcanic soils. The palate is broad yet finely detailed, with ripe acidity providing shape and length rather than sharpness. A natural partner for lobster, turbot, monkfish or roasted poultry, it is equally a wine for the cellar, where its structure and complexity will continue to evolve over many years.
About The Producer
The Dönnhoff family have been farming in Oberhausen, on the banks of the River Nahe, for generations, but it was Helmut Dönnhoff who transformed the estate into one of Germany’s great names from his first vintage in 1971. Today, his son Cornelius continues the family’s meticulous approach across some of the Nahe’s finest vineyards.
Dönnhoff’s Rieslings are celebrated for their remarkable purity, energy and sense of place. From the volcanic slopes of Kupfergrube to the slate and sandstone of Hermannshöhle, Brücke and Leistenberg, each vineyard has a distinct character, translated with extraordinary precision in the cellar. The result is a range of beautifully transparent Rieslings that we believe rank among the very finest wines Germany has to offer.

Winemaking Information
Produced from the finest, steepest parcels surrounding the historic Felsentürmchen within the Schlossböckelheimer Felsenberg, this Grosses Gewächs is rooted in striking red volcanic porphyry and melaphyre soils. The grapes are harvested selectively by hand before gentle pressing and fermentation in stainless steel and traditional large oak casks. The wine spends at least six months on its full lees, followed by further ageing on fine lees, building texture, complexity and outstanding ageing potential.
