Why You'll Love It
This is dry Riesling at its most complete: concentrated yet understated, with a finely textured palate and remarkable freshness. Expect layers of lemon, white peach and citrus blossom, underpinned by smoky, saline minerality and an effortless sense of precision. Despite its intensity, the wine remains poised rather than powerful, making it an exceptional partner for lobster, turbot, scallops or simply a dish where the quality of the ingredients deserves an equally distinguished wine. It will also reward careful cellaring for many years.
About The Producer
The Dönnhoff family have been farming in Oberhausen, on the banks of the River Nahe, for generations, but it was Helmut Dönnhoff who transformed the estate into one of Germany’s great names from his first vintage in 1971. Today, his son Cornelius continues the family’s meticulous approach across some of the Nahe’s finest vineyards.

Dönnhoff’s Rieslings are celebrated for their remarkable purity, energy and sense of place. From the volcanic slopes of Kupfergrube to the slate and sandstone of Hermannshöhle, Brücke and Leistenberg, each vineyard has a distinct character, translated with extraordinary precision in the cellar. The result is a range of beautifully transparent Rieslings that we believe rank among the very finest wines Germany has to offer.
Winemaking Information
Produced from old vines in the iconic Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle, Dönnhoff's flagship vineyard and one of Germany's greatest Riesling sites. The steep, south-facing slopes of grey slate, volcanic porphyry and limestone consistently yield wines of extraordinary depth and finesse. After meticulous hand-harvesting in several passes, the grapes are gently pressed before fermentation and ageing in traditional large oak casks. The wine spends at least six months on its full lees, followed by a further period on fine lees, building texture, complexity and exceptional ageing potential.
