Why You'll Love It
This is a finely judged sparkling Riesling that places precision ahead of exuberance. Delicate notes of citrus blossom, lemon zest and green apple are complemented by subtle brioche and a gentle yeasty complexity gained through extended lees ageing. The mousse is exceptionally fine, while the bone-dry finish and vibrant acidity give the wine impressive definition. An excellent aperitif, but equally at home alongside oysters, sashimi, shellfish or lightly fried seafood, where its freshness and mineral character come into their own.
About The Producer
The Dönnhoff family have been farming in Oberhausen, on the banks of the River Nahe, for generations, but it was Helmut Dönnhoff who transformed the estate into one of Germany’s great names from his first vintage in 1971. Today, his son Cornelius continues the family’s meticulous approach across some of the Nahe’s finest vineyards.
Dönnhoff’s Rieslings are celebrated for their remarkable purity, energy and sense of place. From the volcanic slopes of Kupfergrube to the slate and sandstone of Hermannshöhle, Brücke and Leistenberg, each vineyard has a distinct character, translated with extraordinary precision in the cellar. The result is a range of beautifully transparent Rieslings that we believe rank among the very finest wines Germany has to offer.

Winemaking Information
Produced from some of Dönnhoff's oldest Riesling parcels around Oberhausen, the grapes are harvested by hand at full ripeness and pressed as whole bunches. The base wine is fermented in a traditional local oak cask before undergoing a second fermentation in bottle using the classic method. Following 44 months on its lees, the wine is hand-riddled, disgorged and bottled as Brut Nature, with no dosage, preserving its purity, fine mousse and distinctive mineral character.
