Bright red cherry, wild strawberry and a hint of dried herbs, backed up by that signature sour-cherry tang and a gentle savoury edge. The tannins are fine and chalky rather than grippy, and the acidity keeps everything lifted and food-ready. 

Perfect with anything involving tomato, parmesan or grilled meat. Midweek pasta? Perfect. Slow-cooked ragù? Even better.

Castello di Meleto is a historic estate in Gaiole in Chianti, with roots stretching back to the 13th century and vineyards that sit firmly in the heart of Classico territory.
