Why You'll Love It
A proper Spanish vermouth with a difference: old Monastrell wine gives depth, while orange peel, vanilla and warm spice keep it fragrant. Rich but balanced, and especially good over ice with a twist of orange.
About The Producer
Luis XIV is made by Colección de Toneles Centenarios, a project bringing together winemaker David Carbonell and the Ferrero Valdés and Ballester families in Alicante. The partnership safeguards historic Fondillón barrels and uses some of that heritage to make a distinctive traditional Spanish vermouth.
Winemaking Information
Sweet red vermouth made from approximately 70% Macabeo and 30% eight-year-old oxidatively matured Monastrell. The Macabeo base is fortified to 15% and infused with botanicals including wormwood, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla and orange peel. After blending, it spends two months in historic nineteenth-century Fondillón oak barrels. Residual sugar around 100g/L. Serve chilled or over ice with orange peel.
