A crisp, characterful alternative to the usual Provençal pink. Wild strawberry, redcurrant and rose petal are joined by a little citrus zest and a clean mineral edge. Light-bodied, dry and refreshingly bright, it makes an excellent aperitif but has enough fruit and structure for grilled fish, smoked salmon, summer salads or herby chicken from the barbecue.
About The Producer
Funkstille translates as “radio silence”, a fitting name for wines designed to offer a welcome pause from everyday noise. The range is made in partnership with a sixteenth-generation family producer in Niederösterreich and celebrates Austria’s best-known grape varieties in a fresh, accessible style. The energy-neutral winery produces more power than it consumes using solar panels and its own biogas plant.
Winemaking Information
Zweigelt grapes are sourced from sunny, south-facing vineyards in Niederösterreich. The fruit is whole-bunch pressed after six hours on the skins, extracting its delicate pale-pink colour and subtle red-fruit character. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks with selected yeasts, preserving freshness and purity. No oak is used. The winery is energy-neutral, generating power through its own biogas plant and photovoltaic system.
