About The Producer
The Fürst family has grown vines in Franken since 1638, but the estate’s modern story began when Paul and Monika took over in 1979. Paul became a pioneer of fine German Pinot Noir, drawing inspiration from Burgundy while restoring prized steep vineyards around Bürgstadt. Today, their son Sebastian and his wife Isabell lead the estate, with Paul still closely involved. Pinot Noir remains at its heart, supported by meticulous vineyard care, low yields and selective harvesting by hand. In the cellar, gentle handling and patient maturation allow the wines to develop their characteristic finesse, with elegance always the guiding ambition.
Winemaking Information
Grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted from the steep, terraced Schlossberg vineyard above Klingenberg. Fermentation takes place in traditional open wooden vats, followed by gentle pressing and around 18 months’ maturation in Burgundian oak barrels. The estate favours patient, gentle winemaking, allowing the wines to settle naturally before bottling without filtration. This approach preserves the fruit’s freshness while developing fine tannins and subtle savoury complexity.
