Domaine Lebrun Pouilly-Fumé Collection Eugénie 2020

If you have enjoyed Laurent Lebrun's everyday Pouilly-Fumé in the past, or you are a fan of smoky, racy, classic Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley, this is a fantastic step up for a special occasion. This wine is fine, flinty and crisp, but Cuvée Eugénie boasts power beyond any other we have tasted, thanks to a few years in the bottle. A selection of special historical plots and old-school winemaking in traditional 600L casks really showcases the exceptional terroir of these vines. In its youth this wine is grown up beyond its years, with classy flavours of nectarine, asparagus and hazelnut. Complex and layered with a soft mineral feel. Pair it with something just as classy: Oysters, grilled lobster or scallops roasted with butter and doused in lemon.

Laurent Lebrun trained as a winemaker in Montpellier, spent his formative years training in Australia and then returned to France to take up the position of General Manager and Head Winemaker at Château Olivier, Grand Cru Classé in Bordeaux. He has recently taken over the running of his family estate in Pouilly-Fumé which makes classic, elegant, flinty wines from 9 hectares of vines on the slopes of St. Andelain.
