Why You'll Love It
Fleurie with a lovely combination of perfume and drive. Red cherry and raspberry meet violet, gentle spice and silky tannins, with granite-derived freshness running through the finish. A rewarding bottle for roast chicken, charcuterie or mushroom dishes.
About The Producer
Thibault Ducroux grew up among the vineyards of Beaujolais and learnt the craft in his father's cellar. Inspired by the writings of Jules Chauvet, and experience with growers including Julien Sunier, he established his own low-intervention approach in Villié-Morgon. Working with his brother Dimitri, he farms Gamay in Beaujolais, Morgon and Fleurie to organic standards, relying on hand harvesting, native yeasts and minimal additions. The results are precise, characterful wines with real energy and a sense of place.
Winemaking Information
100% Gamay grown on pink-granite soils in the Fleurie lieux-dits Grille-Midi and Grand Pré, from vines around 60 years old. Hand-harvested whole bunches undergo carbonic maceration and fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wine ages on fine lees for approximately eight months in concrete tanks, then is bottled without fining or filtration, with only minimal sulphur if needed.
